Empathy Table Project

From business meetings to wedding receptions to birthday parties, the most important events or conversations of our lives almost always take place at tables and are, more often than not, accompanied by food. This project uses the table, food, and eating as a level ground for a discourse on socio-economic power structure, emotional relationship dynamics, cultural identity and biases displayed in our personal and social interactions. It also explores the deeply emotional aspects of food and its role in our inner and outer lives.

The works included in this exhibition were produced within 2 years of pandemic. The emphasis of materials used is fiber, as during the time, I had no access to ceramic or woodworking workshop space and started working with what I had around me: from using chopsticks as knitting needles to sourcing yarn remnants for materials.
