Have you ever felt that no matter how fast we move, life always seems to move faster than we can ever catch up?
You might already be a working artist or might be looking to transition into an art or art-adjacent career. You are a thoughtful, reliable, and determined professional who balances curiosity with practicality. You know you are capable, and you want to find out how far your skills can take you with some support and guidance.
You might be feeling overwhelmed by the many demands of life, work, and family (hey working moms, I see you!). You’re feeling stuck, or even a bit burnout. You want to stop losing sleep worrying about things outside your control. You need some guidance on how to manage an overfilled life and calendar while balancing getting-stuff-done with self-care and unstructured leisure time.
Welcome, you have come to the right place!
I’m Yeu Q Nguyen, or “Q” for short. I’m a working artist and curator based in Los Angeles. My work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, KQED, Fine Home and Dining Magazine. As an alumna of Center for Cultural Innovations’ Business of Art program and a certified artist coach at Intersections for the Arts, I have helped many self-taught and professional artists turn their creative passions into a fulfilling career and artistic practice. I can help you do the same.
It is possible to live as an artist without losing your shirt or your sanity. I created the Resilient Artist Coaching methodology to help you do just that!
We operate on the belief that your biggest assets—and your biggest roadblocks—is internal. We define professional success as one that is fulfilling financially, emotionally, and spiritually. We prioritize your mental health and wellbeing in our coaching. Simply put: we think you deserve to feel fulfilled and well-cared for in the work that you do.
We believe in vulnerability as a source of power, and mutual care as a primary mode of survival. We empower you to pursue a professional path that is true to who you are. We do not encourage social “schmoozing” to power-network. Instead, we help you establish deep ties and meaningful partnerships of your choosing.
Stop the burnout
Build a career that works with your life, not against it.
Traditional coaching programs mold you to fit the “market.” They teach you to adopt “best business practices” and identifying “market trends.” You probably came away from them feeling a bit overwhelmed about all the things you’re supposed to do. You might also question how you can adopt business strategies developed by corporate leadership experts to suit your own small business and community mindset.
Joy = Success
You deserve to have fun. Feed your inner child.
Resilient Artist Coaching honors YOU as the primary driver and medium of your art, life, and career. We adopts a human-first, heart-centered approach. We understand your needs to grow from experience. We teach the way you learn. You set the pace and the agenda.
We identify the subconscious fears and desires that have been influencing your business and career decisions. This necessary “inner work” will give you more self-awareness and provide the foundation to our work together.
We help you set SMART as well as qualitative goals, break up your big vision into smaller bites, and strategically “level up” your capacity to accommodate your growth. We train you to be the best at business practices that suit YOUR personality and lifestyle. We will hold you accountable, while reminding you to be kind to yourself.
Through our work together, you will stop chasing after the elusive and mercurial “market” and BUILD YOUR OWN. My coaching combines practical, real-life experience in the industry with psychology science and mindfulness to help you:
Discover your business niche
Build an authentic professional network and community partnerships
Develop a sustainable, satisfying career that honors your values and lifestyle goals
You will walk away from each coaching session with a deeper sense of self-compassion that allows you to tackle any challenges and uncertainties in life and work with grace. You will also have fun while doing this!
I’ve broken through many ceilings in my own journey as an artist. While some ceilings were made against me, some ceilings I created for myself.
Imposter syndrome. Perfectionism. Self-denial. I was treating myself with so little compassion and consideration that I almost destroyed my own wellbeing and my relationship with my art.
The biggest breakthroughs in my career have always happened when I let go of expectation and embrace curiosity, when I treat myself with kindness, when I measure my progress in growth and joy.
I can help you build the resilient mindset and business strategy necessary for a thriving creative life and career.
