Artwork Statement:

Growing up, I dreamed of chasing after fireflies. I never got to fulfill this dream, and that’s what sparked my inspiration for these works. Audience presence is required to activate the sensor that spins the lanterns and scatters their light, bringing the artwork to life. I include this feature to enforce our sense of agency in constructing our own experience, and invite the audience to embrace the constantly shifting, ephemeral nature of our reality. As we chase after the dancing light, I hope we are reminded of our thirst for the wondrous and that it is never too late to chase after our childhood dreams.
